On accepting noise as the default condition

By Pragalbha Retreat Co.May 02, 20266 min read

We live in a world where noise is the background radiation of existence. We have become so accustomed to it that when silence actually occurs, it can feel unsettling. We don't realize we have been holding our shoulders up for years until we finally put them down.

At our retreats, the first day is often about adjusting to the lack of noise. Guests look for their phones, check for notifications, and feel a phantom vibration in their pockets. But by day two, something shifts. The silence becomes a warm room rather than an empty space.

Slowing down is a practice, and like any practice, it requires a supportive environment. That is what we aim to build—one quiet day at a time.
